The following training topics may be of interest. This list is not exhaustive. If a topic of interest is not on the list please speak with a CCI representative about the possibility of developing and providing training.
Topics include:
40 Developmental Assets – offering three trainings on the 40 Developmental Assets:
- Basic Introduction to the 40 Developmental Assets. This training is a two-hour training that provides staff with a basic understanding of the 40 Developmental Assets. (approximately 1 1/2 hrs. in length)
- Introduction to 40 Developmental Assets with Strategic Planning. This training introduces staff to the Assets and provides opportunity for staff to have some “hands on” experience planning with the Assets. (approximately 2 ½- 3 hr in length)
- Parenting with Assets – A basic introduction to the 40 Assets for Parents. (Approximately – 45 minutes – 1hr)

Logic Models
Child Support – Laws and Information
This is a two hour workshop providing basic information about Indiana statutes and the new Indiana Child Support Guidelines. The Indiana Supreme Court Guidelines changed effective January 1, 2010. A discussion of resources available will be provided.
Personal Organizational Skills
Improving Workplace Communication
This workshop will address a number of issues that impact one’s communication in the workplace with both co-workers and clients. Issues to be addressed: Language, Body language, Self-disclosure (what is appropriate and what is not), self-esteem/self-confidence and speaking clearly. (Approximately 3 1/5 hrs)
Interviewing skills
General Presentation Skills
This workshop will discuss speaking clearly and concisely, managing your personal image, persuasion – key factors that influence our ability to persuade others. Some brief tips on speaking with some practice in speaking.
Professional Communication and Boundaries
This workshop primarily addresses the importance of professionalism in your workplace both with co-workers and those you interact in the business world. Appropriate Disclosure and Boundaries will be addressed.
Career planning and advancement
Advocacy for Non Profits
How can nonprofits have influence on public policy legally? The fine points of the laws and regulations are important in this discussion. There is a way to advocate for public policy that is not considered lobbying. What is the difference between advocacy and lobbying? What laws apply- federal or state? Know what your non profit can do and what it should not do.
Working with families with Substance Abuse Issues
Whether the issue is alcohol misuse or dependence or addiction to other drugs, it is a family issue. We will use the most up to date research from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to discuss what professionals working with families need to know. We will help the professionals who work with families design strategies and programs that are appropriate for their clients to stop the progression of the diseases of alcohol and other drugs. (3-6 hours)
Legal issues for Grandparents raising Grandchildren
The economy has forced more parents of young children into working more hours and more jobs. An additional factor is that some of those parents are hooked by alcohol misuse and other drug dependence. Grandparents are now stepping up to the task of playing more significant roles in the lives of their grandchildren and even grandnieces and grandnephews as families face stress from many directions. The workshop will explore the legal responsibilities of the caregivers, rights of the biological parents, and how this all must be addressed to protect the children. (2 hours)
